An Empty Mind Is a Safe Mind

I usually avoid Cold War spy novels, because I feel the Russian characters in them tend to be stereotypes. But I made an exception for this novel, as it is very well done. The characters are interesting and three-dimensional. As an added twist, the main characters have psychic abilities, which make them powerful spies. There is peril, adventure, mystery, and romance. The setting, 1963-4 Moscow, is well-drawn. I did catch a couple of minor translation errors, but they do not get in the way of the plot. I look forward to reading the sequel--can't wait to see what happens next!
