A slow-building story that goes beyond the eccentricities of a wealthy Scottish family into something far more sinister. The actor playing Prentice does a good job in showing a shaky entry into adulthood--he is spoiled, veering from the idealization of one girl to sleeping with a relative's former girlfriend--and yet warm-hearted at the same time. Money, privilege, and an unquestioning acceptance of high-functioning alcoholism cause a lot of issues for his family. On a bright note, several of his family members are gifted writers, and there's an unforgettable scene of father-son love and storytelling during a cold winter's night. Note: some of the actors have heavy accents; English subtitles available.
