After his parents lose their jobs at the local brickworks Michael and his family embark on a round-the-world sailing trip. On the eve of his twelfth birthday, however, Michael falls overboard and is stranded on an unnamed island somewhere in the far East. But the island is far from uninhabited... who is leaving food for Michael? Despite an ending that is somewhat unbelievable, I enjoyed this YRCA 2006 nominee: it is similar to other stranded on a desert island books such as Theodore Taylor''s THE CAY.
