To readers: Do not read this book. To librarians: Do not re-order this book. It is appalling to me that an author who is described as the author of numerous award-winning books; and who is a consultant to the National Science Foundation is so very wrong. She calls the octopus's appendages "tentacles." Octopuses do not have tentacles. They have arms. Only two cephalopods or decapods have tentacles: cuttlefish and squids. This is a pet peeve. I have wondered why so many people who look at the octopus when visiting the Shedd Aquarium ïncorrectly squeal: "Oh, look at the tentacles."and now I know why. They read incorrect information from authors like Sandra Markle who did not bother to research their topic. Better book? Borrow "Octopuses" by Judith Jango-Cohen.
