Well-written and compelling story told from three perspectives. The most effective are Delilah's story and Leo-in-the-now. Can't say I saw that ending coming!

Great book - good mystery that you can not put down. Lots of secrets among the people of this neighborhood and lots of twists and turns in the plot and the ending will leave you gasping. Enjoy

This was a good mystery that sucked me in and kept me turning the pages. The chapters alternate POV’s and timelines - a format I dislike, but doling out a little info here and a little there added tension and foreboding to the book. I have to admit that I didn’t know “who did it” until it was revealed.

It was a dark and stormy night. There is a knock on the door. Kate opens it to find her neighbor Josh and his son Leo. A wife and daughter are missing. Where are Meredith and Delilah? The narrative is told primarily in three timelines: Kate - 11 years ago (May), Meredith - 11 years ago (March), and Leo (Now). The reader gleans additional details from a prologue and chapters that act like bookends. Seemingly unconnected details will come together and a few well-placed red herrings might distract for a time. Be aware that the plot does include grim details about child captivity, bullying, and a vehicular homicide. Kubica's sense of timing is spot on and keeps those pages turning. Will appeal to fans of Lisa Jewell, Wendy Walker, and Lisa Gardner.
