Callum Hunt's summer break isn't like other kids'. His closest companion is a Chaos-ridden wolf, Havoc. His father suspects him of being secretly evil. And, of course, most kids aren't heading back to the magical world of the Magisterium in the fall.
It's not easy for Call . . . and it gets even harder after he checks out his basement and discovers that his dad might be trying to destroy both him and Havoc.
Call escapes to the Magisterium -- but things only intensify there. The Alkahest -- a copper gauntlet capable of separating certain magicians from their magic -- has been stolen. And in their search to discover the culprit, Call and his friends Aaron and Tamara awaken the attention of some very dangerous foes -- and get closer to an even more dangerous truth.
As the mysteries of the Magisterium deepen and widen, bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare take readers on an extraordinary journey through one boy's conflict -- and a whole world's fate.

This book was fun, exciting, and mysterious. The main character in the book is called callum Hunt. Callum finds out his dad stole an object called the Alkahest, and runs to stop him from using it.
The book was amazing and exciting it kept me on my feet and i didn't once get bored, Can't wait for the next book.
honestly I didn't like how the climax happened so early, only a week or two into the Magisterium. but I forgive that for all the kick butt and humor. Bronze Key, I'm 17th baby!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously this series is one of the most awesome things ever.
This book had me sucked inside it. I think I literally had my nose in the book. It was exiting, and well written. I suggest it for a more mature reader, as there are a few tricky words and a little bit of violence. It was an amazing sequel.

An improvement to the first book in the series, The Copper Gauntlet was far more an enjoyable and immersible read. I read about two-thirds of the book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! It wasn't quite so slow or time jumpy as I felt the first one was; it was far more cohesive. The kids' adventure was enthralling!
I'm looking forward to the next book! :)
It's a story most readers of children's fantasy epics know well: A hidden world of magic, which some contemporary children discover when they become old enough to attend the hidden academy of magic, learning all kinds of wonderful abilities. And a recent war within that magical world, where an evil overlord was unexpectedly defeated when he tried to kill one infant too many. The evil was defeated and the baby remained. The boy who lived.
Except, in this version of the story, when the evil overlord realized he was dying, he transferred his soul to the body of the baby. Secretly. Callum Hunt never knew his newborn soul was destroyed and replaced by a far darker one; he has no memories besides being Call. And he has never felt evil or been tempted by darkness. But he found out at the end of The Iron Trial his body holds the soul of the Enemy of Death, and the Enemy's chaos servants all call him Master.
Now he suspects that his dad suspects the truth and secretly wants to kill him. His one refuge is the Magisterium, his academy of magic, where he has good friends and a teacher who respects him. So long as they never learn his secret. Because his best friend is the magic community's best hope of defeating the forces of evil, and they will all want to kill him when they find out the truth. So Call has to avoid his dad, learn as much as he can, try to be a good person and friend, and, oh yeah, hide from the forces of darkness that want to return him to his previous glory. Is Call destined to be evil, or will he be able to be his own person?
This is an exciting adventure that keeps growing in depth and complexity. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes next.
