Sister Fidelma continues to please. In this outing, she and Eadulf struggle, as he wants to remain a monk, and her vocation as a scholar and sleuth seem to be taking her away from him and their son. Yet when her brother, the King, is stabbed, she is obligated to find out what happened and why. This long-running series is still a delight. Having just finished Thomas Cahill's "How the Irish Saved Civilization" helped me understand the background of these stories, though they certainly stand on their own.
