Someone has been watching D.A. Rachel Knight - someone who's Rachel's equal in brains, but with more malicious intentions. It began when a near-impossible case fell into Rachel's lap, the suspectless homicide of a homeless man. In the face of courthouse backbiting and a gauzy web of clues, Rachel is determined to deliver justice. She's got back-up: tenacious Detective Bailey Keller. As Rachel and Bailey stir things up, they're shocked to uncover a connection with the vicious murder of an LAPD cop a year earlier. Rachel suspects someone knows the truth, someone who'd kill to keep it secret.

I respect Marcia Clark and was curious about her writing. I couldn't finish this book, however. Maybe female readers would enjoy it more but as a guy, I couldn't get past all of the references to clothes and Ketel One vodka. Made me wonder if she had a product placement deal!

This is the second book in the Rachel Knight series, and it was rather disappointing: The plot was convoluted, I thought. In addition, I felt that the author seemed to continually talk about the fashion choices and three-meals-a-day dining out choices of Knight and Keller, choices that not only seemed to border on the obsessive but also seemed to be out of character for civil servants. Despite my qualms, I have already borrowed the next two books in the Rachel Knight series from my library and plan to finish that series and then go on to the author's current series. (Samantha Brinkman).

Ok story .. but did not care the writing .. seemed rather amateurish .. also had unnecessary foul language .. it did not add to the story. Some parts of story never seem to be completed .. would not read another book by this author .

This is the second in her Rachel Knight mystery series. As well written as the first in the series with a sassy protagonist, great insight into the workings of the DA's office, and intelligent characters and dialogue.
Guilt by Association is the first book.

This was a good book which could have been a lot better if the author was not so interested in naming every local restaurant in L.A. it would have benefited greatly from some good editing.
