Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland makes a bit more sense after reading this book. However, it isn't all about Mr. Toad, but all the animals who live in the forest and how they behave towards one another and what happens in the woods and stream. Those were the days when we spent more time outside in the woods or vacant yards if we were lucky.

A wonderful classic with charming characters that delight adults and children alike. This version is happily unabridged, but I still prefer the version read by Marvin Jarvis. Mary Woods does a nice job of reading here, her voice is clear and well paced. But the voices of the individual characters tend to all sound the same to me, and lack personality when compared to Marin Jarvis' version, but perhaps another listener will appreciate her subtlety more.
