PEP was created in December 2001 as part of the Regional Economic Development Alliances (REDA) to assist communities in southeastern Alberta. The goals are to enhance economic diversification, promote sustainable economic development, and collectively position this region in the global marketplace. Its membership includes 16 communities and Special Areas 2 and 3.
