In this stunningly suspenseful first novel, reminiscent of George Orwell and Philip Pullman, John Twelve Hawks has created a vividly imagined world that runs parallel to our own. Moving at lightning speed from the back alleys of Prague to the underworld of Los Angeles to a guarded research facility in New York, "The Traveler" goes beneath the surface to give us new insights on history and our own lives.

A change, for me, in reading material...I felt a ' must ' finish need in reading this book. It was very thought provoking, engaging, and a Now pay attention read.....AM age 72yr.2018

I couldn't get past the first few chapters with all the gratuitous violence.

1984 meets Jason Bourne.
A disturbing look at hunger for power and control, with intense action scenes. I didn't smell a whiff of YA fiction (not that YA fiction is necessarily bad).

Gah. I couldn't finish it. I have a low tolerance for mediocre writing and this book reads like it was written by a teenager. It should have been marketted to the YA crowd. I'm sure it would be a fine beach book for a 15 year old.

This book is unsettling! It's eerie how it draws lines of thought to how seamlessly we've allowed the integration of technologies into our everyday lives - and not questioned the uses that they can be put to. A great kick off to a trilogy, John Twelve Hawks is actually a pseudonym - even the publisher claims they don't know who he really is! If you love conspiracy theory books, with hints of sci-fi and even light fantasy, this action-packed book is definitely for you.

part of a trilogy. Clever, engaging. I really became attached to the main characters in the 2nd novel in the series, felt a tad let down after the 3rd. I hope there will be more.

Neat ideas, but mediocre execution. It seemed like an amalgamation of things the author thought were cool (which is fine I guess) but the way in which the story unfolded was not interesting to me. The characters were stereotypical and predictable. I kept waiting for the book to pick up but in my opinion it never did. I did finish it and might read the second (and third)...someday.

Great story, I got really into it. I wish there had been a little more character interaction but alas... Spooky how closely it resembles reality.
