Alex Cross battles the most ruthless and powerful killer he has ever encountered: a predator known only as the Wolf.
Alex Cross's first case since joining the FBI has his new colleagues baffled. Across the country, men and women are being kidnapped in broad daylight and then disappearing completely. These people are not being taken for ransom, Alex realizes. They are being bought and sold. And it looks as if a shadowy figure called the Wolf-a master criminal who has brought a new reign of terror to organized crime-is behind this business.
Even as he admires the FBI's vast resources, Alex grows impatient with the Bureau's clumsiness and caution when it's time to move. A lone wolf himself, he has to go out on his own in order to track the Wolf and try to rescue some of the victims while they are still alive. As the case boils over, Alex is in hot water at home too. His ex-fiancee, Christine Johnson, comes back into his life-and not for the reasons he might have hoped .

Alex Cross has joined the FBI and his first case is trying to find the "Wolf". He needs to stop the kidnapping of people being sold into slavery. Another very good book in this series.

Cross has now joined the FBI and trying to catch the Wolf who is kidnapping women and men to be sold as sexual slaves. They have too many suspects and travel widely in their pursuit. It is very fast paced plot highlighted by the short sentences and very short chapters. Keeping his home life stable continues to be a serious problem. A surprise visit from Christine adds more more stress as she is suing for custody of their child.
The plot is rather far fetched and somewhat flawed but the novel is still enjoyable and entertaining.

Kept me reading until the end, loved the emotion from the characters (specifically -more emotion and intellect from Cross was a highlight).

I was really enjoying this book until about 3/4's of the way in and then it felt like the author had gone past his deadline and had to finish no matter what. The last part felt extremely rushed

P.S. --> I don't believe in spoiling the surprises, so I won't. I will however try to increase anticipation by saying that I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation before the end of his very first chapter of the next one, London Bridges. And we know his chapters aren't so long.

I wish I hadn't made the mistake of reading London Bridges before reading Big Bad Wolf... London Bridges is an excellent sequel to BBW. Both books are great; however, BBW has Cross beginning his FB I career and introduces the Wolf, which helps set the stage to London Bridges (which is even more action packed). Patterson's Alex Cross books are outstanding ... enjoy them all!
