Add a CommentI loved this book which I read more than 20 years ago.
It's the prequel to 'Where I Live Now'.
If you love the prairies and are in a self-reflective stage of life, this book is for you. Having visited Eastend, SK and having grown up in a not-so-far away SK town myself, I was easily drawn into the story of adjustment, transition and deep attachment to the barren Southern Saskatchewan landscape with all its hidden beauty. The landscape and people story is intertwined with Sharon Butala's own self-awakening. Finding herself very much alone with a new rancher husband, she assimilates her adjustment to a new life and surroundings through daily walks, intense reading, research and writing while developing spiritually. It is a beautiful story that makes one long for a period of retreat full of such experiences and discoveries.
