Excellent story may have been true. Knew nothing of Lillian Hellman till now.
Communistic views. Risky undertaking to smuggle money. If you Google her you will find out about controversy with her writing. Neat to see the steam locomotives.…

It's very hard to see what everyone was so excited about back in 1977. Julia was a prestige success that inadvertently led to the exposure of its story as more wishful thinking than fact. Lillian Hellman just had to aggrandize her part in…

The mutual love and admiration between the two women came through loud and clear as portrayed by Fonda and Redgrave (both just turned 81 and still very active in films). A good part of the movie involved an edge-of-the-seat train ride that…

Fictional portrayal of Jane Fonda supposedly playing Lillian Hellmann as a spy during WW2 , yawn it never happened. Move on.

Good performance by Jane Fonda. The beginning of the movie was slow but it got interesting when Lilian was tapped to smuggle the money to Julia and I was rooting for her not to get caught. I didn't feel that they developed the friendship…

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. It is based on the true story of Lillian Hellman and her friend, Julia. I happen to think it is probably the best acting Jane Fonda ever did. The story is suspenseful and totally engrossing.

This 1977 film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards but sadly is mostly forgotten today. I found it to be a gripping drama filled with suspense and emotion. Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave give remarkable performances as the two leads. It…
